We provide furniture and mattresses to people in need who seek to establish a stable place to live.
Working with 165 agencies in Northeast Ohio, we serve the people they are helping regain dignity and stability in their lives. Each year that number is 3500 to 4000 people who receive around 20,000 pieces of basic furniture items. In addition, each year over 1000 children of these families receive new beds and mattresses through the Beds for Kids program.
To do this, we pick-up furniture, clothing, household goods and many other items in six counties of Northeast Ohio. Most of these items are given to the families referred by the agencies, but some are sold in our thrift store to help pay the cost of fulfilling our mission. Our Thrift Store generates approximately 75% of the funding needed to carry out our mission to the families referred to us. We offer new and gently used furniture, clothing, household goods, and other items at prices that reflect the quality of the item. Help those in need while furnishing yourself and your home.
Everything we do helps the environment. By picking up furniture, clothing and other items and providing them to families or selling them in our thrift store, we are reducing the amount that might end up in a landfill. Your donations help us recycle/reuse over 1 million pounds each year.
Beds for Kids Program
In 2012, the Furniture Bank started Beds for Kids – providing new mattresses and beds to families referred by participating agencies. The beds are provided to children between the ages of 2 and 17. We also provide new cribs to children under the age of 2. Each year over 1,000 beds are being provided. To date we have provided over 8,600 beds.
